I am not on Lemmy but my posts get broadcasted here because I’m posting with ActivityPub. Some platforms it broadcasts to have character limits. I always abbreviate ppl, bc, abt and some other words when I know it’s not going to fit. When I abbreviate, it’s to prioritize them fitting nicely on Bluesky, but it ends up looking weird on other platforms like Lemmy. The Fediverse is great for broadcasting your posts across different networks, but one of its pain points is its lack of a formatting standard across them. Unfortunately, it comes at the sacrifice of looking awkward on some platforms.
