Am I Hungry or Thirsty?

Some random study I read said 75% of Americans are dehydrated and don’t know it and that when you’re stomach is growling it means you’re thirsty, not hungry. So why when I drink water when my stomach is growling, my stomach feels bad and I feel like throwing it up?
