You can find account to follow if you’re not on those instances by typing their @username@server. So for me, I’m not on Mastodon, I run my own Fediverse server through WordPress, but you can find me anywhere on the Fediverse on any platform by searching for @eve in the Search field.
So if you want to find people on the main Pixelfed server (there are many) on pixelfed.social, I believe you can just go to Pixelfed.social and browse their directory, it’s public.
