If you want to stay in the same position forever, can I ask if you’re okay continuing to earn the same wage you are today or are you expecting raises (above the rate of inflation)?

If your employer isn’t a schmuck, values your work and wants to keep you, they would automatically give you cost-of-living raises. Or he/she can be a douchebag and risk losing you to another employer who will pay more to compensate for it.

I used the phrase “above the the rate of inflation” you used the phrase “cost-of-living”. We’re talking about the same concept on this. So my question is still effectively: Are you okay with not seeing an increase in the value of your salary (meaning your salary rises with inflation/cost of living increases), but no more than that?
