What do you do to improve your sleep?
I was raised hearing that to have enough energy for the next day, I should go to bed early. I’ve learned this is a lie. Even though I went to bed at around 8 or 9ish pm, I still woke up the next day tired and low energy.
So to improve my sleep, I started listening to my body. I go to bed when I’m tired. I ran a personal experiment to get a baseline time of when I felt sleepy. I stayed up most nights as long as I could and it seemed to fall around the 11pm mark every night. I now go to sleep every night at 11pm.
In addition to going to bed then, I also realized my room temperature mattered. If the room is warm, I will toss and turn all night and not really be sleep. Or wake up easily to use the bathroom or if there’s even a sound outside. It was only by accident that I found out I am a light sleeper if the room was warm or even room temperature. I began turning the AC on at atound 65-70 degrees so the room would have a slight chill, but not cold, and I stayed asleep thr entire night, consistently.
That said, going to bed when I’m actually tired and keeping the room cool, dramatically improved my sleep.
