My cat Emet does this oggling thing from across the room when he’s ready to eat. He just sits across the room … and stares at me. When I sense him doing it and I look over, it’s pretty unnerving.

I attended Zoe Keating’s concert at Le Poisson Rouge, stood in line to scan my e-ticket, and enjoyed a sandwich and tequila while seated mid-venue. Keating played a mix of old and new songs, joking with the audience. Post-show, I recognized and conversed with journalist Amy Goodman, discussing her work and my discovery of Democracy Now!. It was a memorable evening meeting both Keating and Goodman.

At the end of January, I was laid off and I ain’t even mad.
