Not everyone wants to move up a ladder. Some of us love the work we do, in just the position we are in, and we still deserve liveable wage. No one wants to keep competing for shit.

I hear all the time at work about cross training, moving around to new positions and departments, etc.
Fact is, I’m a highly skilled specialist. Neither the company, nor I, want me anywhere else doing anything else than what I’m doing now.
I had been promised by my former boss, who then became a director, that a position would be created for me based on my skills and experience, but he’s long gone, and nothing ever came of it.
I am comfortable handling multi million dollar projects, but you couldn’t pay me enough to manage people.
So I’m stuck, in my happy place, with nowhere to go.

If you want to stay in the same position forever, can I ask if you’re okay continuing to earn the same wage you are today or are you expecting raises (above the rate of inflation)?
